Psychology GCSE follows the Edexcel syllabus that picks five big questions and looks at how psychologists have tried to answer them:
- How do we see our world?
- Are dreams meaningful?
- Do TV and videogames affect young people’s behaviour?
- Why do we have phobias?
- Are criminals born or made?
The course has been chosen to show the variety of disciplines within Psychology, and also to complement the IB course, which is the only sixth form option available at Bexley Grammar School. The material is covered in as practical a way as is possible, so that students get to experience what they’re learning about.
Assessment is by examination at the Year 11.
