In Year Transfer

In-Year Admissions Process - to be completed for children currently in years 7 and above.

A ‘casual’ or ‘in year’ admission is when a student is admitted to the school, outside of the normal secondary transfer period (when a student enters the school from Year 6 into Year 7).

For a child to be considered for a place at Bexley Grammar School, they must have been deemed selective in the Bexley Selection Tests. Procedures for making a secondary transfer have recently changed and all parents of students wishing to apply for a place, at Bexley Grammar School, whether they live in Bexley or in a neighbouring local authority, must complete a ‘Grammar In Year Application Form’ which is available below with guidance on how to complete the form.

If you are wanting to put both selective and non selective schools on your application, you will need to use the online application which you can find on Bexley Council’s website.

If your child has been deemed selective and a place is not currently available, you can ask for them to be placed on a waiting list for the appropriate year group. If a place becomes available we will contact the person at the top of the list to offer them a place at the school.

If you have any questions please contact: Miss R Houghton, School Office, Bexley Grammar School, Danson Lane, Welling, Kent, DA16 2BL

You cannot just turn up to these sessions, you need to register and receive an invitation for the test your child qualifies for.  The next test dates are as follows -

Bexley Grammar School - Autumn test, November 2021 (closing date for applications Sunday 10th October).

Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School - February Test, closing date Friday 21st January 2022.

Beth's Grammar School - May Test - closing date Friday 1st April 2022

Townley Grammar School - Summer test, 11th and 12th July 2022 (closing date 27 June 2022).

PLEASE NOTE - If you have a child currently in year 7 and they sat the 11 plus in year 6, they are not eligible to sit the 'In Year' test until the end of the Summer term in year 7 (June test).

If you have a child currently in year 6 and you missed the deadline for the 11 plus, the earliest your child can sit the 12 plus is the Autumn term of year 7.  Do not complete this application form until your child is currently in year 7.
