Bexley Grammar School is accepting a ‘bulge’ class into Year 7 for September 2019
Bexley Grammar School is pleased to confirm that it is expanding its admission number from 192 to 224 to cater for the bulge in the number of pupils in Bexley that are reaching secondary schools in September 2019. At the same time, there has been an increase in the number of pupils who have passed the Bexley Selective tests (the 11+).
The London Borough of Bexley has requested that Bexley Grammar School take an extra form of 32 students (7 forms instead of 6) into Year 7 in September 2019, and again in 2020, to cope with this bulge. The school is able to accommodate an extra teaching class in each of the next two academic years (64 students) and possibly a third year to be negotiated with the LA. Following these bulge years, the admission number for Bexley Grammar School would revert to 6 forms of entry at 192 pupils.
This will allow more Bexley students to secure a selective place in a Bexley school near them (last year three-quarters of our Year 7 cohort were Bexley residents) and will also provide more opportunities for disadvantaged students to gain a place at a local selective school.
