This year’s House Music competition was held on Wednesday 1st October.

All Houses, under the leadership of their House Captains, prepared both Instrumental and Choral pieces to perform for the competitors from all the other Houses and our two judges, Mrs Goddard and Mr Gilmore.

Each House took the theme of 'Stars' and ran with it; star-shaped coloured glasses, star headbands, glitter-cut stars, shiny costumes, face-painted stars adorning the students. There was a good selection of pieces from ‘Video killed the Radio Star’, ’City of Stars’, ‘Shining Star’, ‘Star Man’, ‘Rewrite the Stars’ and even a couple of versions of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’–as you’ve never heard it before.

It was a glorious afternoon of singing and playing, every House having clearly put in a lot of effort into creating and performing their entries.

Unfortunately, there can only ever be 1 winner. The competition was extremely close with only 1 point between each of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place. Wellman were the winners on the day, followed by Mabbs, Prothero, Johnson, Collins and Kirkman.

There will be an opportunity to see an entry or two from the House Music competition at House Showcase next March. All details will be published nearer the time.
