BGS Students at London Schools Symphony Orchestra

During the winter break, Ella Tyler and I had the opportunity to attend the London Schools Symphony Orchestra.
We had the chance to work through such a repertoire, consisting of:
Alexander Arutiunian- Trumpet Concerto in A-flat major performed by Aaron Akugbo
This is London
- CJ Brook - Tower Hamlets
- Connie Harris - SURGE
- Pablo Martinez - I See Freedom Across The Pond
- Jack Smith - Grassroots Ripper Machine
Prokofiev – Selection from Romeo and Juliet

It was amazing to be able to play a variety of pieces spanning different areas of classical music; 'This is London' was composed by 4 young artists attending the top 4 music conservatoires in London! I especially enjoyed playing Prokofiev's 'Romeo and Juliet', which included some famous and difficult extracts (including the theme from the show 'The Apprentice'!) which was incredibly fun. Furthermore, we were able to play in the Barbican theatre, which isn't an everyday experience, and having the occasion to play music and perform for people to enjoy was a pleasure!
