David Farr ~ Author Visit

We were thrilled to have David Farr visit our school to talk to the Year 7s about his book series, The Book Of Stolen Dreams.
My book club has been reading this book and have loved it, because it's an exciting mixture of adventure, mystery and fantasy. It was a wonderful opportunity for the whole year group to get a taste of the book, and a chance to ask David questions about his writing.

On the 25th September, Year 7s had an excellent opportunity to experience David Farr’s author visit. It was great fun and an informative event, and we learnt lots about his books and how he started writing.

David Farr came to talk about his three-book collection – The Book of Stolen Dreams – and how he wrote the story. It starts with a girl called Rachel who was on an airship and met a very weird man. The idea for this book came from his own Granny, Great-Aunt and Uncle, who travelled to England on their own during World War II. He developed these into characters and turned it into a story. This was his own family a very long time ago, which he still adores dearly.

David Farr started to write at age fourteen. However, he didn’t start writing books. He entered a poetry competition where he had his published, but later on started to write plays and then moved onto his amazing books.

As BGS students, we should have commitment like he did and apply it in our everyday lives.

GO, WRITE LIKE DAVID FARR!
