Sports News Round Up May 2025

Year 9 Cricket

Well done to the Year 9 cricket team, who won their first league game of the season against Wilmington on Thursday. An excellent team effort saw them hold on for a close win.

U14 Cricket

A fantastic 70 not out from Atharva helped the U14 cricket team secure a 26-run win vs Forest Hill in the Kent Cup this afternoon. Lots of good performances from everyone else helped contribute to the win, too.

Well played boys!

Bexley Athletics Championships

Well done to our Year 9 & 10 athletes, who represented us brilliantly at the Bexley Championships on Wednesday. There were some outstanding performances in the face of stiff competition. Thanks also to our Year 12 PE prefects, who worked really hard on the day to keep everything running smoothly.

Fantastic Double Win for Year 7 Rounders Team!

What a start to the season! Our amazing Year 7 rounders team secured two impressive victories on Tuesday, after just one training session!

In the first game, against Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School, the team delivered a brilliant batting performance, scoring 11.5 rounders and backing it up with accurate and disciplined fielding to restrict the opposition to 9.

Next up was Townley Grammar, where the team showed great teamwork and determination to win 7–5.

A great foundation to build on. Well done to all involved! With more practice, we’re aiming for even more success this season. Training continues Wednesdays from 3.15pm – 4.15pm.  All welcome!

Girls' Cricket Season is Here – And Our Girls Are Smashing It!

The sun is shining, spirits are high, and cricket season is well underway! Our U13 and U15 girls were thrilled to take part in the Kent tournament at Sidcup Cricket Club as part of the fantastic ‘Chance to Compete’ scheme.

U13's Take the Trophy!

Our U13 team came out swinging with a nail-biting opener against Walthamstow Hall, clinching the win with just one wicket to spare. From there, they stepped it up with strong, confident victories over Cleeve Park, Langley and St Edmunds. Crowned champions of the event, they now head to the finals at Mote Park in June. Congratulations to Nehi, Maria and Faye, who were each named 'Player of the Match' by the opposing teams; a true mark of sportsmanship and talent. Huge congratulations to the whole squad!

U15s Show Skill and Spirit

The U15s started their campaign with a nail-biter too, securing a narrow 4-run win over Sevenoaks. Despite a tough match against Chislehurst & Sidcup, they bounced back with brilliant wins against Eltham Hill and Colfes, ultimately finishing as runners-up in their group.

Their batting was on fire with sixes flying beyond the boundary. It’s been a joy to watch their bowling confidence grow. Players of the match as voted by the opposition went to Shriya, Lois and Sophia and rightly so! A wonderful performance all round.

A special mention must go to Shriya and Aarohi for their excellent captaincy; calm, focused, and full of team spirit. It’s been a true pleasure to take such a talented and enthusiastic group out for the day. And the new cricket outfit was complimented by many of the schools too. Very smart!

Well done to all - you’ve done us proud!

Year 8 girls' rounders & Kwik Cricket

Year 8 students were on a winning streak on Tuesday against Bexleyheath Academy for our striking and fielding fixture. A win for the rounders team by just a half followed by an introductory kwik cricket game, winning 137-111.

The 'Players of the Match' were Aarohi and Jeeya for their superb bowling in rounders and cricket. It was a great start to the week. More fixtures to follow this term.

Well done all!
