Congratulations Alice!

Huge congratulations to Alice Black and her netball team. Alice went to Sunderland to compete last weekend and came an impressive 7th in England! Alice plays for Kent County Netball Club. Following an initial qualifying regional tournament and 14 matches throughout the season, they gained a place at the U16 National Finals. The 18 best teams in England played over 2 days, in Sunderland, at the Beacon of Light Stadium. Their team, KCNC, won 5 of their 7 matches in the Finals, only losing to the eventual winners and another top team. Congratulations to Alice, an excellent GD circle defender who played every match, blocking out the opposition, defending shots and making interceptions to turn the play over. She is part of an amazing team, who worked brilliantly together to beat tough opponents, and we can proudly say they came 7th in the country.
Teamwork at its best!
The PE department is proud of your success, Alice. Well done!

On Monday 15th April, the Year 9 and 10 girls' netball team went to watch the London Pulse netball team play against Saracens Mavericks at the Copper Box Arena. It was really exciting to get to see them play, especially from the front few rows.
We were lucky to secure a triangular fixture at Dartford Girls along with Townley. What a lovely group representing BGS with pride; great company and smiles all round. It was enjoyable seeing them all play friendly yet competitive games. Some wins, a draw and a couple of losses.

The team talk was all about pushing on and converting our chances. We knew that we wanted to score early in order to take this game away from Harvey Grammar, and we did with one of George's huge throws, capitalised on by Maks. 2-1 Bexley.

The Year 8s headed to Chis and Sid in what can only be described as arctic conditions. The girls were a pleasure to take; polite, hard-working and great ambassadors for BGS. A great result, placed them 3rd and 5th overall. Well done all!
