Chalk Drawing
In 2021, artist Ei Arakawa transformed the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern into a living artwork, inviting visitors to sketch, doodle, and draw across the floor. Inspired by this and Ei Arakawa’s idea of ‘drawings being combined with the drawings of others’, Year 7 students explored mark-making techniques and the use of complementary colours to reimagine the school landscape through pattern and colour. Their work developed into a collaborative artwork that transformed the environment with vibrant visual expression.
The project also had a secondary interactive element where teachers and students from BGS were invited to walk through the installation, observing the artwork and sharing their comments and reflections as they experienced the evolving creative space.
