Year 9 trip to Kew Gardens 2026
Our Year 9 students went to Kew Gardens to support their work on world biomes. They visited many of the pleasures of the gardens, such as The Treetop Walkway, The Palm House and The Princess of Wales conservatory.
In addition, 2 students from each class were selected as winners by their class teachers with their winning photo or newsletter write-up. See below for the winning entries – we are sure you will agree that these are stunning and engaging.

I thought this photograph was very creative and original. It is taken from the upstairs walkway of the Palm House and I love how it captures both the beautiful spiral staircase and the towering palm.

I love the perspective of this photograph, the reflection in the lake, and how it captures the wonderful architecture of this building.

This is my favourite image because it zooms in onto this beautiful nymphaea and also shows the diversity of lily pads and water plants in the background. (Students' own reflection).

I think this photo is simple but so effective. Evan also used a ‘real’ camera to take this photo and took a lot of time to get the perfect shot.

This is my favourite picture from Kew because it captures the incredible biodiversity of the gardens, with a wide variety of plants, such as towering palm trees to tiny hanging flowers. The thing that I really like about this one photo is the contrast between the vibrant greenery and the rusting metal structure above it. The rusty steel beam reflects Kew's rich history and age, which to me makes this picture very special.
