Geography

Welcome to an exciting and popular subject at BGS. We pride ourselves on offering a dynamic, engaging course. A Level geographers are independent, skilled and analytical learners that are loved by universities.

Students will have the tools to explore and understand the world around them. They will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, applying their knowledge to real-world challenges. Through collaborative projects, creative tasks, and personalised support, students will reach their full potential. They will also have the opportunity to take part in a residential field trip, experiencing geography first-hand and seeing how the concepts they learn in the classroom shape the world. These experiences will deepen their understanding of global issues and help them develop a lasting care for the planet and the communities within it.

The department follow the Edexcel Pearson specification (2016) 9GE0

TRIPS

There is a compulsory 4 day residential trip and all students need to attend this trip.  We go to a specialised FSC centre in South Wales, The Margam Centre as this provides students with the opportunity to follow the route to enquiry for fieldwork in relation to both designing their fieldwork and collecting primary data.  Students will then return back to school with their chosen investigation title and complete this over the summer term.
