Spring Term Roundup from the Music Department

Pioneers Of Sound Concert ~ Tuesday 17th March 2026

This year’s Spring Concert was themed around music by trailblazers, innovators and invention as our students prepared a wonderful and varied programme of music to entertain our audience. We opened with Beethoven’s iconic 5th Symphony with all the BGS orchestras and our guests from Gordon Primary School Orchestra and Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake it off’, immediately setting the mood for the concert ahead. We had a truly diverse array of music, from Junior Choir’s ‘Everything I do, I do it for you’, Senior Choir’s ‘Carmina Burana’, a composition by our very own Rock Band and A Capella Group’s ‘Toxic’ and ‘Silly Love Songs’ (led by our Year 13 student Rory Wynne). The whole evening finished with our massed item, ‘We are the Champions’ by Queen featuring Will Bense Year 11 on Guitar.

The evening was hugely enjoyable; congratulations to everyone who took part and for all of your musical efforts to make this concert yet another resounding success! We look forward to our upcoming production ‘Shrek’ from 30th June - 3rd July. Not long to go now!

BGS Chamber Choir at ‘Spring Sing’

On Saturday 21st March, our Chamber Choir was invited to perform at the annual Spring Sing at Eltham. Our Choir performed ‘Music of the Night’ from Phantom of the Opera, Chorale 21 from St Matthew’s Passion by Bach and ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ from Toy Story.

The Chamber Choir were wonderful in their performance, led by Francis Montanari Brown, and we enjoyed watching them perform to members of the local community.
