BGS Hosts Public Speaking Regional Final!

Thursday 12th March 2026

As the proud hosts of the 2026 Bexley Finals, we were delighted to welcome some brilliant speakers onto our stage. Last year's BGS winner, Devine, was the MC for the evening, introducing each speaker with great insight and respect (you wouldn't know that she had only just met the contestants at the workshop beforehand).

Throughout the evening, the audience was enraptured by a range of thought-provoking topics, encouraging everyone to ponder themes including family relationships, dealing with neurodiversity and being true to yourself.

Ella, Daniel and Aaron entertained the audience with some wonderful jazz in the interval and our Year 10 runners-up were given the important task of time-keeping.

All BGS volunteers were very friendly and helpful to the judges, finalists and guests.

The Jack Petchey team know how to put on an exciting event, and it was a privilege for us to be part of the evening.

The judges stated that they had a tough time picking the winners, so we were very proud of Grace Shaw, who came second. Our other BGS speaker, Henry, gave a delightful speech which was full of confidence.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this evening together; teachers, site team, finance, canteen staff and the wonderful receptionists. Thank you too to Mr Gilmore for starting the evening's proceedings.
