Head of History and Politics - Full Time

Main/Upper Pay Scale (including OLW) and TLR D (£10,174 pa)

Would you like to teach and challenge able students who enjoy History, and to engage young people with the Politics of today? Would you like to lead an extremely successful team of specialists as they continue to develop and innovate?  Would you like the opportunity to teach in the sixth form?

We seek to appoint a full-time, well-qualified, graduate Head of History and Politics from September 2026 to lead a highly successful and motivated department in an outstanding school. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic candidate with a vision for making both History and Politics relevant and appropriate for students in the 21st century.

History is a popular subject choice at GCSE and at KS5, where Politics is also a thriving subject. The department contributes to the co-curricular life of the school and organises a range of educational visits including overseas trips.

Bexley Grammar School is an oversubscribed, high achieving, coeducational selective school, rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in October 2022. With a full complement of subject specialist teachers, a rich curriculum and a wealth of co-curricular activities, we provide an exciting and enriching educational experience for all and many opportunities for career progression in both the academic and pastoral life of the school.
