The Year 12 Welcome BBQ ~ September 2025

Last Friday, our Year 12 community gathered for a sunny afternoon of food, music, and excitement, blessed with clear skies and warm sunshine.

The catering team consisted of helpful teachers and Year 13s, all making a notable effort to welcome the new Sixth Formers and keep everything inclusive by ensuring a vast availability of food options. From appetising burgers and hot dogs to vegetarian and halal choices, the range ensured the entire student body felt comfortable and included.

Beyond the delicious food, students engaged in socialisation and sports on the field, and took time to converse and enjoy the music in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

Events like this highlight the values of our school: community, mutual support, and inclusivity. All of these united to make this Friday afternoon an unforgettable and heart-warming occasion.

We are incredibly proud and grateful to the teachers whose commitment and generosity made this delightful event possible.

Anastasia Stoynova, Year 12

On Friday 19th September, there was a barbecue for the new Year 12s of Bexley Grammar School. Some of the teachers cooked burgers, hotdogs, chicken breasts, and there were drinks served, such as Schloer, or just apple, or orange juice. A lot of other things happened, too. There was football, music, and even some private gossip and arm-wrestling. As an external student, I must admit, I still feel pretty awkward being around entirely new people, except for a small few internal students that I had known since I was in primary school. However, I got used to the school surprisingly quickly. The layout of the school is easy to get around without getting lost, and I have even opened up to some new friends in the school. The teachers are hard-working, and they cater to your every need in Year 12, and hopefully Year 13. It's a very big jump from secondary school to Sixth Form, but I am confident that I can rise up to the challenge.

Jericho Baruwa, Year 12

On Friday, the entire Year 12 community was welcomed with a lovely free barbecue for the students to enjoy. It was coordinated by our Senior Prefect Team and senior teachers, who were grilling the food for almost 2 hours.

There was an amazing selection of condiments and drinks to choose from as well as people to talk to. I really enjoyed the Year 12 barbecue.
