Welcome to the ADT Department.
We seek to encourage creativity and innovation in our pupils, in both their approach to academia as well as the more traditionally artistic pursuits.
“The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful.”— Alan Alda
Over the past years, many of our pupils have received awards and commendations, both nationally and locally for their work. Pupil achievements have included the “Young @ Art Awards for Art and Science” (Year 9); finalist in the Daily Mail 'Not the Turner Prize' and a winner of The Guardian 'Young Student Photographer of the Year '. Every year, our students’ work is celebrated in one way or another. Much of our work is regularly displayed around the school, and in local exhibitions such as Hall Place and Eltham Palace. Recently some of our Year 10 DT students won the Starbucks Challenge by designing a regeneration project which involved the use of solar power and wind turbines. All this proves to be a good advert for the high standard achieved by our students.
We have a very good reputation for promoting Art, Design and Technology and benefit from some excellent facilities and teacher expertise in the department. Four Art rooms, plus purpose built rooms for Food, Textiles, Electronics, Graphics and Resistant Materials Technology make up this large faculty, and teaching is supported by the latest CAD CAM equipment.
