Library Art Competition

Thank you to all the students who took part in the art competition. I was blown away by all the beautiful artwork. My new library assistants have displayed all the book covers for everyone to see, and next week I will be having lots of them framed and others will be on show in the English department.

Much Ado About Numbers Review
Walking into K10 - the theatre room also for assemblies - a slight sense of uncertainty hung over us. We were all wondering the same thing: what did our English teacher mean by: "Shakespeare and Numbers"? Most of us thought it was a bit odd, revisiting Shakespeare, a topic we had long sinc...

‘This Girl Can’

The 'This Girl Can' campaign has produced inspirational images of women in sport. There's no doubt that the Olympics and Paralympics wowed us; a huge deal for women and girls! Some of the favourite, iconic moments from both summer Olympic Games.

We would love to hear about the sporting success of the girls outside of school.

What’s been happening to the girls at BGS over the past few weeks:

  • Over 30 new Year 7s at netball training with fixtures scheduled against other schools.
  • Charlton football coaches train the girls after school on Thursdays until October, then on Tuesdays until March.
  • Early morning running club in Danson Park.
  • KS4 Badminton on Fridays until January, then this switches to the KS3 students in the New Year.
  • As usual, like last year, a great turnout of Year 8 & 9 netballers after school.
  • Cheerleading is now under way on Thursdays with our external experienced coach and former student, which is fantastic for keeping it within our BGS community.
  • Opportunity to play table tennis on Monday mornings before school
  • The swimming gala is planned for experienced swimmers at Colfe's School.
  • We are hopeful that we can offer Dance, kindly volunteered by one of our new Sixth Formers.
  • Over 30 girls, including some new faces, attend netball club for students in Years 10,11 and Sixth Formers, with Ms Paige joining the teacher coaches!

Fixtures are in place, and on top of this, House sport and volunteering opportunities help with the younger years.

Lots to look forward to, with plenty of opportunities to grab. 2024-2025 is going to be a busy one!
