On Thursday 18th January, I (and my fellow English prefect Princela) had the privilege of being a judge along with Miss Aspill for the Year 8 Public Speaking Competition. We had the opportunity to listen to twelve amazing speeches from candidates who were nominated in their classes to go forward to the final competition. The judging process involved paying close attention to the content, delivery and structure of the speeches, though every single candidate performed exceptionally in all three aspects with their amazingly well written and delivered speeches. As a result, it was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and it was lovely to witness such passionate speakers!
Divani Nagulathas, Year 12
Overall, judging the Year 8 Public Speaking Final was a rewarding experience. There were a total of twelve speakers, each providing incredibly thought-provoking speeches, with topics ranging from AI to Rugby vs Football; this made choosing the top six challenging. Nonetheless, we enjoyed having the opportunity to listen to and be in the presence of such engaging public speakers. It was so clear to see that a lot of time had been invested in these speeches. We had no concept of time whilst listening to everyone speak, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing event!

Year 10 Basketball
A tough 41-28 defeat for the Year 10 basketball team in their opening Kent Cup group match. A strong 4th quarter from Trinity overcame a 5 point deficit to clinch the win. On to the next one…
It's about taking part!
Who has more fun than we do? Sport isn’t always about wins, it’s about spending time with your friends, laughing and making memories (yes, we lost).
Always fun with these guys. Well played!
Year 9 Basketball
Year 9 basketball on Tuesday - some really impressive scores from the boys, but not quite enough against a strong Leigh Academy Bexley team.
Cross Country
Well done to our fantastic cross country runners who performed brilliantly in the chilly weather in Dartford on Saturday at the Kent Schools Championships.
The pictures are Lucas, Matilda and Raef, who all represented us superbly. Well done!

U13 Girls' Football
The U13 football team played in the English Schools competition on Tuesday against Croydon High. Dahlia secured an early goal but with a strong and fast Croydon side, they soon snatched the lead. BGS, as ever, fought to the end, playing some lovely football and defending with determination. Lucia made some outstanding saves and the defensive unit pressured the attack at all times. A huge well done to the squad for a really impressive, supportive and positive performance. Well done to Matilda who was voted the 'opposition's player of the match' and Hazel as our player of the match, both showing fantastic defensive skills. It was an absolute pleasure watching, supporting and cheering on from the sideline!
