Book group gets creative for Pride month!

This week our book group has been designing cake toppers for Pride month, based on our favourite LGBTQ+ characters, and our favourite books from the Carnegie medal. I was very impressed by their artistic skills. They were less impressed with my baking skills, but overall a good time was had by everyone!

Greek is back!

Over the last 18 months, a small number of students in Year 12 have been studying Classical Greek, and took an ‘Intermediate Greek Certificate’ exam in the subject last week.

Greek used to be on the curriculum here right up to IB, so it is great to welcome it back.

I’m very proud of all their hard work in amongst all their other commitments; twice-weekly 7.30am lessons, fuelled by Danish pastries!

Siona, Mat, Evie and Harry will get their results in August.

It’s been a pleasure to teach them!

Year 7 Rounders Tournament

The Year 7 girls played their first rounders matches of the year at the Bexley Borough Tournament on Tuesday 6th June.  We had a great turnout which meant the team had matches against Trinity, Chis and Sid, St Catherine's and Townley Grammar.  The girls played extremely well together as a team, hugely supportive of each other in both triumph and defeat.  They demonstrated excellent risk taking when batting, picking up valuable rounders, and superb backing up when fielding at second post, denying points to the opposition.  Across the tournament the players achieved two wins (against Chis and Sid and St Catherine's), one draw (against Trinity) and one loss (against Townley).  Those results secured them the runners-up position overall, we are very proud of them.  Well done!

Year 9 & 10 Cricket Leaders

Our Year 9 and 10 cricket leaders hosted 5 local primary schools in the area semi-finals of the borough competition on Thursday. As always, they represented us brilliantly and enabled our visitors to have a great afternoon at Bexley Grammar.  Well done!

Year 10 Cricket

The Year 10 cricket team came up a bit short against a high scoring Hurstmere team on Wednesday, not able to chase down a formidable 192.  Some good innings from the boys made for a good effort, but not quite enough.
