It's not too late to support Layla

Layla Evans in Year 12 is taking part in a "Pretty Muddy 5k" as a fundraiser for Cancer research. She explains her motivation below:

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives.

When I was 5, my dad passed away from cancer, and it changed all of my family's lives. I would love to raise as much money as I can to help support cancer research and save as many lives as possible, so fewer people have to suffer, and fewer families have to lose the ones they love. Research gives families hope, and it gives people more time, more memories, and more of the moments that matter most.image.png

Thank you!

A Geography Update

Apologies to Erin Jennings for misspelling her first name in last week's newsletter report.

It has now been corrected.   See below for the correct celebration of this piece for the Year 8 River Project!

Erin Jennings, 8KVC

A beautifully crafted and thoroughly professional booklet on the River Yangtze, thoughtfully themed and impeccably presented – huge congratulations!

R.A.I.N.

When emotions feel too heavy, just let it...

R - recognise what you're feeling. Notice what's happening inside you. For example, 'I'm feeling anxious' or 'This feels uncomfortable'.

A - Allow it to be there. Instead of fighting the feeling, give it space; 'It's okay to feel this way' or 'This is just part of being human'.

I - Investigate gently. Get curious, NOT critical. Ask yourself 'Why do I feel like this?' and 'What do I need right now?'.

N - Nurture with kindness. Don't judge yourself, support yourself. Say 'I'm doing my best' and 'I'll be okay'.

GCSE Contingency Sessions Summer 2026

Please note, the awarding bodies have designated the morning and afternoon sessions of Wednesday 24th June 2026 as ‘contingency sessions’.

These contingency sessions are designed to be used in the event of national or significant local disruption to examinations. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam until Wednesday 24th June 2026. This decision is not a school decision and does apply to all candidates in all schools.
