Spring News from Geography

Year 8 geographers have been very busy showcasing their creativity and research skills by creating projects on one of the following rivers: Nile, Colorado, Yangtze or the Ganges.   The quality of work was excellent across the year group, but each teacher selected 2 projects from their classes which really stood out!

Steps when feeling overwhelmed

If you are carrying a lot mentally right now, try the following 4 steps...

Step 1: Gently acknowledge what's weighing on your mind. Try writing down everything your mind keeps circling back to. No fixing or prioritising, just naming.

Step 2: Interrupt the mental loop with something physical. Try going for a walk/ yoga/ dancing/ your favourite sport.

Step 3: Set some mental boundaries. Try, instead of focusing on a to-do list, create a 'not now' list. Write down the things that don't need your energy and set them aside for today.

Step 4: Give your mind some closure. Try, at the end of the day, saying 'today, I did enough'.

GCSE Contingency Sessions Summer 2026

Please note, the awarding bodies have designated the morning and afternoon sessions of Wednesday 24th June 2026 as ‘contingency sessions’.

These contingency sessions are designed to be used in the event of national or significant local disruption to examinations. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam until Wednesday 24th June 2026. This decision is not a school decision and does apply to all candidates in all schools.

Lost Property

The photos here show reading glasses (some with cases) handed into lost property recently. These can be an expensive item to replace, so please have a look and ask your child to come to Reception if you see their glasses.
Alternatively, you can click on the link here to report any lost property or email us directly via reception@bexleygs.co.uk.

Please may we remind parents/carers to write your child's name on all of their belongings so that we can return any lost items to them. If belongings are handed in to us, and they are named, we will contact the student directly, so please ask your child to check their school email account to see if we have messaged them. You can also click on the link here to report any lost property or email us directly via reception@bexleygs.co.uk.

Thank you

Please Support Layla

Layla Evans in Year 12 is taking part in a "Pretty Muddy 5k" as a fundraiser for Cancer research. She explains her motivation below:

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives.

When I was 5, my dad passed away from cancer, and it changed all of my family's lives. I would love to raise as much money as I can to help support cancer research and save as many lives as possible, so fewer people have to suffer, and fewer families have to lose the ones they love. Research gives families hope, and it gives people more time, more memories, and more of the moments that matter most. Thank you!
