How To Instantly Feel Better

Here are some simple suggestions of things you can do when it feels like your emotions are not on your side.

When you are feeling...

  • Angry
Sing. Singing releases endorphins which help reduce feelings of frustration and anger.
  • Burned out
Walk to process and calm your thoughts.
  • Overthinking
    Write your thoughts down.
  • Overwhelmed
Write a list of things you need to get done. Focus on one task at a time based on its importance.
  • Anxious
Breathe. Deep, slow breaths calm anxious thoughts.
  • Stressed
Exercise is the most effective way to boost endorphins, the neurotransmitter responsible for de-stressing your mind.
  • Sad
Gratitude is a simple, scientifically effective way to raise positivity and happiness within the brain.
  • Lazy
A cold shower raises dopamine which is responsible for your capacity to feel motivated.
  • Impatient
    Reflect on your progress.

GCSE Contingency Sessions Summer 2026

Please note, the awarding bodies have designated the morning and afternoon sessions of Wednesday 24th June 2026 as ‘contingency sessions’.

These contingency sessions are designed to be used in the event of national or significant local disruption to examinations. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the date of their first exam until Wednesday 24th June 2026. This decision is not a school decision and does apply to all candidates in all schools.

Please may we remind parents/carers to write your child's name on all of their belongings so that we can return any lost items to them. If belongings are handed in to us, and they are named, we will contact the student directly, so please ask your child to check their school email account to see if we have messaged them. Please click on the link here to report any lost property or email us directly via reception@bexleygs.co.uk.

Platinum Jubilee Fundraiser – It's not too late to donate!

Dear All,

Thanks to your generous contributions to date, we have raised over £5000 which will make a real difference to our Sixth Form facilities.

We are now entering the planning stage of deciding how to develop the Sixth Form Centre for our students. However, it's not too late to donate. Every single donation, no matter how big or small, is very gratefully received.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

Here is the link to our Just Giving page or, if you prefer, scan this QR code.

Thank you.

Message for Parents / Carers from the Children's
Commissioner

I am writing to inform you that I have recently published a new guide, What I wish my parents or carers knew: A guide for parents on managing children’s digital lives.

This guide was written with the direct involvement of children in England. It is a reflection of their views. My office visited schools to speak to teenagers, and spoke to my Youth Ambassadors and Youth Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Panel to get their expertise on what works and what doesn’t work between parents or carers and children in the 21st Century.

As parents, carers, and educators, our job must begin and end with our children’s care and safety. It’s what they expect and what they want from you.

As one young person told me: "Don’t be afraid to be firm… If you are worried [that] your child is seeing harmful content, and you don’t know what they’re watching, and it’s affecting the behaviour, just take it that you know best – they don’t."

I hope this guide will be a useful resource for your school community.
Yours sincerely,

Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner
