The whole school play this year is 'Wendy and Peter Pan' by Ella Hickson (for the Royal Shakespeare Company). There is a wonderful tradition of Theatre at BGS, with the Christmas show selling out at 4 of its 6 performances! We are particularly keen to get many students from Years 7–9 involved, as we need a lot of Lost Boys!
Anyone can audition, come to K10 after school on Wednesday 10th September.
In the audition, chose one of the attached scenes to perform. We recommend practising the scene with friends in advance, as it means you will be more comfortable in the audition and fully able to show your skills. These can also be collected from the Drama office between the Theatre (K10) and J16.
You may then be asked to do a second audition for a main role. This second audition will be on Friday 12th September (this is known as a 'call back').
Plot synopsis
Fly away to Neverland as you’ve never experienced it before, with Wendy & Peter Pan - Ella Hickson’s witty retelling of JM Barrie’s Peter Pan directed by Jonathan Munby, featuring Lolita Chakrabarti, Daniel Krikler, Charlotte Mills, Hannah Saxby and RSC Associate Artist Toby Stephens.
Follow Wendy on an awfully big adventure as she journeys far from the safety of the Darling’s nursery, taking centre stage in her quest to find the key to her parents’ forgotten happiness – the child they once lost, and discovers how the power of just one happy thought can set flight to newfound joy.
With Peter Pan, fairy Tink and Tiger Lily as her unlikely allies, Wendy gives the Lost Boys a run for their money as she takes on the diabolical Captain Hook in this ‘spectacular’ (Guardian) staging and ultimately learns what it really means to grow up.
