In Yr 7 Geography you will learn locational knowledge, develop mapskills, study weather and climate, carry out a microclimate enquiry  and investigate the changes in London.

Aim: To understand what a field sketch shows and how to successfully draw one. 

  1. Look at the photograph - how many different human geography and physical geography features can you identify?  

  2. Listen https://voca.ro/aApgjOBDAmi - to check your understanding.

  3. Watch  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhFUJkBw3kk to find out how to draw a field sketch.

  4. Your turn to draw a field sketch. You can choose to draw and label a field sketch from the photograph above  OR the view from a window at home. 

Tips:

  1. You will need: a piece of plain paper, a pencil and a ruler. 

  2. Draw a 20cm (w) x 15cm (h) box.

  3. Draw in the MAJOR lines in each box including skyline and building shape.

  4. Add some smaller details e.g. trees or paths. Note: you DO NOT need all the details.

  5. Add  labels to the sketch to identify the human geography and physical geography.

  6. Lastly add - date drawn, the location and a title.

Well Done!
