Government and Politics is not offered as a GCSE option and for this reason if you wish to study the subject at AS & A2 you should have an open mind with regard to current affairs together with a willingness to listen to other people’s views on issues before making judgements about them. The study of Government and Politics is divided into two very distinct sections. For AS level the British Political System and its component parts such as the Electoral System, Political Parties, the Cabinet, Pressure Groups, Parliament and the Civil Service. For A2 different aspects of the Political System of the United States or Political Ideologies are looked at or a combination of both aspects (ie Modules 3A and 4A, 3B and 4B, 3B and 4A or 3A and 4B).There is no coursework component.
