The A-level Further Mathematics course caters for students with a very good background in Mathematics who are competent in a range of analytical and technical skills. The majority of these students will be expecting to include Mathematics as a major component of their university studies, either as a subject in its own right or within courses such as Physics, Engineering and Technology. Others may take this course because they have a strong interest in Mathematics and enjoy meeting its challenges and engaging problems.
A-level Further Mathematics may only be taken in conjunction with A-level Mathematics. It is a demanding course, requiring students to study a broad range of mathematical topics to a considerable depth. The course is, therefore, only accessible to students who have achieved an A* at GCSE. A-level Further Mathematics requires the study of the following six modules:
Decision Mathematics 1
Further Pure Mathematics 1
Further Pure Mathematics 2
Further Pure Mathematics 3
Probability and Statistics 2
Mechanics 2
