Those students electing to follow English at Higher Level will do all fifteen texts outlined above and will have five lessons per week:  those working at Standard Level will study the eleven texts indicated via three lessons’ contact per week.

Aims of the Course:

        •    Encourage personal and critical appreciation of literature
        •    Develop powers of expression in oral and written communication
        •    Introduce to range of literary texts of different periods, genres, styles and contexts
        •    Broaden perspective through study of literature from other cultures
        •    Develop understanding of relationships between literary works
        •    Develop skills of detailed analysis
        •    Promote enjoyment and interest in literature
