KS3 Musical Showcase

On Tuesday evening, in chill temperatures, a crowd gathered in the School Hall for the KS3 Musical Showcase. This new venture show-cased solo talent from Years 7 and 8, topped and tailed by the forty five strong Junior Choir with a finale by the Big Band.

What a wonderful programme! Nineteen soloists entertained on a range of instruments, everything from Vivaldi on the piano through Gershwin on the trombone to Deep Purple on the drums, taking in voice, trumpet, flute, saxophone, violin and clarinet performances. It was inspiring to see such young talent performing challenging and entertaining pieces with such confidence.

A huge thank you to Miss Varty for masterminding and hosting what will now undoubtedly be an annual event. Thank you too to all in the Music Department and to the ever-present Mrs Snelling for her wonderful organisational skills. And finally, thank you to our talented students and their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents and friends for coming out on a cold evening to celebrate the occasion. (The World Challenge team that ran the refreshments and the raffle also add their thanks for the generosity of the audience.)
